Flint Family Five Adventures

A chronicle of our biggest adventure yet - as we travel to China to adopt our little girl Olivia.

Sunday in Guangzhou

Today we toured around Guangzhou. It was very interesting to see the living areas and all the markets with the meet and chickens etc. just hanging out front in the heat. The temp. was brutal today. We took the bus to an Arts and crafts museum. It used to be a family school that was later converted into an institute for artisans. There was. Carvings out of bone, jade, ivory. there was amazing embroidery and painting of pictures and pottery. The workmanship was incredible.

After sweating through that we went on to the 3 Banyan Budhist Temple. The area was well attended by adoptive families as well as residents there to pray. Olivia was able to be blessed by a Budhist monk while we were there. Thank goodness he played a drum-like object because it held her attention for the whole time we were being blessed.

Did I mention it was hot today? We were wiped out by the time we got back to the White Swan Hotel. Cole and Mike went to the pool while Gray, Olivia and myself crashed for a nap. We awoke, did some shopping then had dinner at Lucy's-a restaurant with a western menu. mike and I had grilled ham and cheese sandwiches, which turned out to be spam and cheese. I loved seeing the Chef's face as he ate his spamwich.

Tomorrow is our big day. We have our US Consulate appointment where we take the oath to protect and care for Olivia for the rest of her days. We then apply for. Her visa to travel to the US. Tomorrow we are also going to the Pearl Market and on a Pearl River Dinner cruise. woo hoo!

We hope you are all well. We can't believe we are almost done with our China trip.

love to you all,
Us
